I've heard of LifeSize Transit, but what does it do...?
...and more imporantly how can it help my customers?
Call Management
With an Inbuilt-Gatekeeper and SIP Registrar the LifeSize
Transit provides simplified dialling using E.164 number short dials,
H.323/SIP aliases and URIs. This takes the headache out of calling
between video systems by removing the need to remember IP addresses.
Industry standard Firewall and NAT
traversal
Instead of individually configuring a customer’s video
system for NAT public IP addresses and creating specific static firewall
rules, the LifeSize Transit can completely remove these headaches for
H.460 and SIP (STUN/TURN/ICE) enabled video systems. By using industry
standardised protocols and NAT traversal techniques, the LifeSize Transit
can if required, act as a full video proxy for your customer’s network
through their own firewall and potentially anyone else’s firewall for
that matter.
No need for the customer’s IT department (or outsourced IT)
to create specific rules, or deploy multiple public IP addresses to cater
for each and every video system in their network.
Highly Secure environments and unknown Firewalls
For larger corporate, enterprise or public sector networks,
commonly opening up ports for static NAT and/or video traffic can be met
with a big red flag, or resounding NO from the IT department. Allowing a
large port ranges or statically mapped addresses through the firewall is
either impractical or quite simply not permitted due to the network
protection policies in place.
With LifeSize Desktop and Video Endpoints in conjunction
with the LifeSize Transit, these more challenging configurations can be
catered for using the Transit tunnel client, where all of the video,
audio and signalling traffic is funnelled into a very narrow port range,
providing you video comminications even in the most secure or unknown
environments.
Fully Integrated Video
Solutions
The LifeSize Transit along with the other products from
LifeSize can talk to your LifeSize video systems anywhere in the world,
across borders, boundaries and firewalls, so you can use the resources of
your company’s video network (such as MCUs, Gateways and other video
endpoints). The LifeSize is a very powerful and important part of the LifeSize
Video eco-system and when used with the other LifeSize infrastructure
products you can take the power of high-quality video with you, wherever
you go.
